Kanthari - Scholarships for social entrepreneurs and changemakers

Kanthari Kanthari, located in Trivandrum, Kerala, in the south of India, offers a 12-month, scholarship-based leadership program for change-makers/social entrepreneurs who have overcome adversity and want to start their own organizations addressing social or environmental issues.

Kanthari has trained 242 changemakers from 50 countries over the last 12 courses. This has resulted in 130+ organizations that make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of people on the margins of society on a daily basis.

Kanthari provides participants with all of the skills and tools needed to start and run their own impact-making organizations. The course serves as a final stop before establishing one's own organization/venture/NGO or social enterprise.

Kanthari graduates founded organizations that address a variety of issues, including environmental protection, human rights, alternative education, peacebuilding, and/or disability.

Some participants have university degrees, while others have little to no formal education; some are blind or physically disabled, while others do not.

It is essential to have a sense of ownership, motivation, creativity, talent, and passion in order to make a positive social impact.
