Nobel Peace Prize: Journalists Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov share award

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has chosen to give the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021 to Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov "for their efforts to protect freedom of speech, which is a prerequisite for democracy and enduring peace."
Maria Ressa utilizes her freedom of expression to expose abuses of power, the use of violence, and the rise of authoritarianism in her home Philippines. Dmitry Muratov has spent decades defending free expression in Russia under increasingly difficult circumstances.
