  • Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS Delhi, was awarded the 22nd Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence for his pioneering and persistent contributions to medicine and pandemic awareness.Dr. Guleria received the distinguished honor from Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, who referred to him as the "commander-in-chief" of India's dedicated army of frontline fighters who have been heroically conducting a never-ending battle against COVID-19.

About The Award

  • The Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence is the fourth highest civilian award given annually to a distinguished Indian living in India or abroad for his or her individual contribution and outstanding achievements of high professional order and excellence in the fields of public administration, public affairs, management, art and culture, education or institution-building, and sports. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a citation, and a plaque.
Congratulating Dr. Guleria, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu stated
