UGC Fellowship for Higher Education

Going for higher education is not as easy as we think. It requires a huge amount of money to get a higher degree now days. The education has become indeed expensive than ever before. However, there are multiple sources,and opportunities  which can help us to fulfill our higher education dream.UGC and different  ministries of Indian Government  have founded and been instrumental in providing financial assistance to the students of every categories.Whoever you are, the government of India  is providing  financial assistance to the following.

1-Emeritus Fellowship

This Emeritus Fellowship is UGC sponsored fellowship scheme.It has been designed and funded   to provide an opportunities  to superannuated teacher who has been actively engaged in academic research  and various teaching programmes in the proceeding years.
Objective
To provide and facilitate opportunities to teacher who are engaged in research in their respective specialization in Indian University/Colleges/Institution.
Eligibility 
1-Highly qualified and experienced, superannuated teachers of recognized universities/ colleges/institutions.
2- quality of research and published work contributed by the teacher in his/her service career.
Financial Assistance under the fellowship
1- Honorarium of Rs. 31,000/- p.m. for two years (non-extendable)
2-Contingency grant (non-lapsable) of Rs. 50,000/- p.
3- Foreign visit in connection with the approved research work of the awardee.
4-The Emeritus Fellow would be entitled to such other privileges including medical facilities as available to the university faculty members.

2-Dr.Radhakrishnan Postdoctoral Fellowship

Dr Radhakrishnan Postdoctoral Fellowship has been provided to carry out advance studies and research in the field of humanities and social sciences.
Eligibility 
1- The candidate should be unemployed. 
2-young researchers below 35 years of age as on the last date of submission of online application.
3-For general category, minimum 55% of marks at UG level and minimum 60% of marks at PG level are mandatory.
4-For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) candidates, minimum 50% of marks at UG level and minimum 55% of marks at PG level are required. 
Financial Assistance under the fellowship
1-@Rs.38,800 – 1st year
2-@Rs.40,300 – 2nd year
3-@Rs.41,900 - 3rd year

4-Contingencies-@Rs.50,000 p.a. for three years.
5- Reader Assistance-@Rs.2000/- p.m. (fixed) in case of physically disabled candidates.

3- Post Doctoral Fellowship to women candidates

UGC has launched the fellowship for the women candidate who are unemployed holding PhD in their disciplines and specialization to carry out advance studies and research. The total duration of the fellowship for five years .
Objective
To provide opportunities to women in order to carry out advance studies and research in the field of science,humanities ,social science,and technology in the Indian Universities.
Eligibility
1-The candidate should be unemployed.
2-The candidates must have been awarded the Ph.D.  
The 3-The candidate should be 55 years of age as on the last date of submission of online application.
4- General category minimum 55% of marks at UG level and minimum 60% of marks at PG level.

4- Post Doctoral Fellowship to SC/ST Candidates.

UGC has launched the fellowship program for SC/ST keeping in view of the socio economic background of the candidates from deprived societies of India.The scheme provides opportunities to carry out an advance studies and academic research in the field of science,humanities,social science and technologies.
Objective-
To provide opportunities to SC/ST candidate to undertake post doctoral research in science, humanities,social science and technologies.
Eligibility 
1- The candidate must have a doctorate degree in the relevant subject preferably with published research work to their credit.
2-Only Ph.D. awarded unemployed candidates will be eligible for the award of Post Doctoral Fellowship.
3-age limit for male applicants is 50 years as on last date of receipt of online application and  55 years in the case of female candidates.
4- SC/ST categories having 50% marks at UG level and 55% marks at PG level are eligible to apply under the Fellowship Scheme.
Financial Assistance under the fellowship
1-@ Rs. 38,800/- p.m. for first 2 years.
2-@Rs.46,500/-p.m. from third years onward.
3-Contingencies -@ Rs.50,00. p.a
4-Reader Assistance-@ Rs. 2000/- p.m. (fixed) in cases of PWD (Person with disability.

5- National Fellowship for scheduled  Caste Students.

The National  fellowship for Scheduled Caste is being funded by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.The fellowship scheme provides opportunities for the Scheduled caste candidates who are pursuing higher studies in the Indian Universities and institution.
Objectives.
To provide financial assistance to the students from SC categories who pursue  higher study such as M.Phil and PhD in science, humanities,social science and engineer and technologies
Eligibility.
1-The candidate should belong to SC/ST and should have passed the Passed the Post Graduate Examination.
2-The Candidate must be registered for M.Phil./Ph.D.
3-Transgender candidates are eligible to apply under the scheme.

6-National Fellowship for Higher Education of ST Students 

The fellowship is being funded by Ministry of Tribal Affairs .National  fellowship for higher education scheme provides opportunities for the Scheduled Tribal students who are pursuing higher studies in the Indian Universities and institution.
Objective
To encourage and  provide financial assistance to the students from ST categories who pursue  higher study such as M.Phil and PhD in science, humanities,social science and engineer and technologies.
Eligibility 
1-The candidate belonging to ST should have passed the Post-Graduation examination for being eligible for the Fellowship.
2-The candidate must be registered for regular and full time M.Phil./Ph.D courses .

7-National Fellowship for person with disability. 

The central government has launched the fellowship scheme for person with disability  to facilitate and increase opportunities to students with disability who are pursuing higher studies in the Indian Universities and institution.
Objective,
To provide financial assistance to the person with disability who pursue higher studies such as Mphil and PhD  in the field of science,engineering,humanities and social science.
Eligibility
1-Any student with disabilities who has been admitted to M.Phil./Ph.D. degree in a University or academic institution.
2-The candidate must get himself/herself registered for M.Phil/PhD at the first available opportunity but not later than within a period of two years from the receipt of award letter.
3-Only those doing regular and full time M.Phil./Ph.D. course of a University/Research Institution shall be eligible for the fellowship.

8-The Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students.

The fellowship Program for minorities is formulated and funded by the Ministry of Minorities Affairs.The scheme provides opportunities to the students who belongs to  Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Christian & Jain and are pursuing higher studies such as regular and full time M.Phil/PhD.
Objective
To provide integrated five years financial assistance to the students from minorities communities pursuing higher studies such as  M.Phil/Ph.D. degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Engineering & Technology.
Eligibility 
1-Should have cleared CBSE/NTA-UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET examination for the award of fellowship.
2-Candidate should belong to one of the minority communities – Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi & Jain.
3-Candidate should be registered for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D courses in University/Academic Institution.
4-The annual income of the beneficiary/parents or guardian of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs. 6.0 lakh per annum from all sources.
5-Candidate should submit his/her income or his/her parent’s/guardian’s income certificate issued by the appropriate Authority.
6-The candidate should have secured a minimum score of 55% at Post Graduate level.
7- Transgender candidates are eligible to apply under the scheme

9- National Fellowship For OBC Candidate.

National  fellowship for OBC scheme has been entrusted and funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.The scheme provides opportunities to the backward class students who pursue higher studies such as regular and full time M.Phil. and Ph.D degrees. in Indian Universities and Institution.
Objective
To provide financial assistance to unemployed students belonging to OBC to pursue higher studies leading to M.Phil and Ph.D degree in the field of  Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Engineering & Technology.
Eligibility 
1-The candidate should belong to OBC and should have passed the Post Graduate examination.
2-annual income of the beneficiary/parents or guardian of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs. 6.00 lakh per annul.
3-he candidate who is already registered for M.Phil./Ph.D. 
4-Transgender candidates are eligible to apply under the scheme.
