Job Description
A great opportunity exists for an energetic team player who is passionate about public and media relations, issues management, CSR and social media. Reporting to the Vice President- Public Affairs and Communications, India & Area Countries, you will have a key role in the day to day management of all business communications, including media relations, issues management and industry association partnerships, primarily for American Express’ business to business clients including our corporate payments and bank partner portfolios.

  1. As part of a small, dynamic team you will play a key role in implementing strategies to drive successful campaigns to enhance the company’s reputation.
  2. You will identify opportunities to generate positive media coverage and be proactive in managing issues to protect and enhance our brand.
  3. You will build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and be responsible for day to day management of agency partners. We need an enthusiastic professional who can hit the ground running.

Responsibilities

  1. Support the team to generate positive media coverage to support business objectives. Specifically, the successful applicant will focus on, global corporate payments and bank partner businesses.
  2. Building and maintaining industry association partnerships in India across
  3. Media management including message development, issue briefs, media monitoring and reporting.
  4. Day to day management of agencies to drive media and social communications strategies.
  5. Implement CSR strategy for American Express Group of companies in India as per the new CSR Act
  6. Implement Employee communications strategy for American Express Banking Corp. India
  7. Heavy emphasis on writing, including PR plans, media materials, briefs and reports.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of ten years’ experience in a broad communications role.
  2. Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies specifically in the business to business segment would be viewed favourably.
  3. Ability to project manages in short timeframes and within changing priorities.
  4. Ability to work within a matrix environment.
  5. Relevant communications related degree qualification (or equivalent).
  6. Outstanding project management, written and verbal communication skills.
  7. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and experience interacting with the highest levels of management.
  8. Must be able to work in a strong collegial team environment.
