The Centre for Nano Science & Nano Technology (CNSNT) came into existence in the year 2005 offering M. Tech. (Nano Science and Nano Technology) degree program by the University Centre for Instrumentation Micro-electronics (UCIM) and later under the aegis of Department of Physics, Panjab University. It has grown into an independent Centre under the renewed initiative of University Institute for Emerging Areas in Science and Technology (UIEAST) by Panjab University.

Applications are invited for the post of a JRF position under the CEFIPRA (Indo-French) research project No. 6108-1 – ‘Plasmonic hot electron pockets as exciton luminescence promoters and region-selective chemical triggers’. The selected fellow will work with an international team involving Panjab University, India and CEMES, France and will also get ample opportunities to participate in various other experiments of the group as well to demonstrate independent research capabilities. The fellow is expected to work both at Panjab University, Chandigarh-India and partly at CEMES, Toulouse-France. The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project at any point of time. The position is initially for one year and extendable up to third year and governed by the CEFIPRA as well as government of India guidelines and his/her performance will be accessed accordingly.


The candidate must have passed the M. Sc. in Physics or Chemistry (preferably minimum of one paper completed in theoretical chemistry during qualifying examination) with a minimum of 55 % marks or 1st class M. Tech. degree in engineering in nanoscience and nanotechnology (relaxation as admissible as per government rules). It is expected that the successful candidate has knowledge in optics & nanoplasmonics and will demonstrate capabilities to carry out independent research work. Candidate actively engaged in research work with evidence of published work will be preferred.

Emoluments/Fellowships as under: For non-NET/Gate qualified: ₹ 14,000 per month + HRA For NET/Gate qualified: ₹ 25,000 per month + HRA * Will be revised as per government notifications and
