OVERVIEW 
Role Purpose (overall high-level summary of the role) : 
Contribute to improvement in credit and operational quality standards by ensuring adherence to the Bank s stated credit and operational policies. This will be achieved through sampling of Credit Control Reports, Deteriorating & Consistently Low Behaviour Score Report, various Exceptional Reports and undertaking industry, sector and portfolio reviews as directed by CMB C&R Portfolio Management Team. The Risk Identifier is required to undertake to sample of credit approvals and ensure that these meet the Bank’s lending policies and that the approval terms and conditions are duly adhered to.
  
Ensuring credit risks within the Commercial Centres (and related business units) are minimized, leading to a long term quality loan portfolio earning a satisfactory return.  Understand risk profile of the lending portfolios, enhancing quality by providing concise/clear/pertinent action/recommendations.  Cater to UK’s growing requirements by providing assistance to formulation of new/amended lending policies/processes to sustain/enhance overall credit quality, avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy.

Role Context :
The primary day to day responsibility for the monitoring & control of lending lies with the Relationship Manager.

The role of the Risk Identification Team within CMB Credit & Risk is to sample customer relationships to ensure that credit risk is being monitored and controlled effectively, as directed by the CMB Credit & Risk Portfolio Management Team.

Basis of Sampling:

The sampler’s observations and views should be independently established using the most current information available. Sampling will not necessarily mirror the views of the relationship manager or their line manager. The focus of sampling should be on risk – either present or foreseeable – rather than considering the strength or value of the banking relationship, which is a matter for the relationship manager. Sampling should be focused on the relationship managers monitoring & control of the facilities, and where appropriate, use of their CAA.  Samplers should not feel restricted in their selection of a RAG rating in cases where CMB C&R have approved the facility.    

Guidance and Authority:

As the primary point of contact for sampling of relationships, the incumbent will be required to guide the overall function of sampling and risk identification, in consultation with the Team Leader and the Portfolio Management team. Apart from this, the incumbent will be responsible for carrying out on-going reviews as per performance objectives covering the following:

  • Credit Control Reports – All types
  • Deteriorating Behaviour Score and Consistently Low Behaviour Score reports
  • Sampling of Risk Lists- All types
  • Portfolio reviews on an ad-hoc basis

Qualifications



Education / Relevant Experience / Other Qualifications :


  • Qualified Chartered Accountants / MBAs with 2 years of post qualification experience in Corporate / SME Credit or Relationship Management in a reputed Bank/ FI.
  • In-depth understanding of credit products viz. – term loans, working capital financing, trade facilities, bank guarantees, bill/invoice discounting, factoring, foreign currency lending etc.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • The candidate must show attention to detail, have excellent communication skills in English both oral & written, and be committed to producing work of the highest quality. He/she must be resilient under pressure and be able to work efficiently in order to meet aggressive deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams are essential attributes for this job.
