Applications are invited for admission to Eighth batch of
Post Graduate Programme in Human Resource Management (PGPHRM)
Commencing June 2019
PGPHRM pioneered by IIM Ranchi, is the first Two Year Full Time Residential Programme in HR to be offered by an IIM. The coursework rests on a revamped and up-to-date curriculum focusing on Systems Approach to Human Resource Management and provides the students the choice to specialize in General HR Management, Industrial Relations and Organizational Development Tracks. Classroom interactions with veterans in various domains of HR, real-life case studies and lectures by coveted guest faculties make the pedagogy of IIM Ranchi unmatched. The programme enjoys keen interest of HR recruiters and has been revered by academia and recruiters alike, for the competencies developed among its students to manage and lead both people and businesses.
Candidates who have appeared for CAT 2018 and are keen to make their mark in Businesses and Organizations through HR Function are invited to apply to the Programme.


  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) category], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • Candidates completing all requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree can also apply subject to furnishing evidence to that effect latest by 30th June 2019.


1.  In accordance to the Article 15 of Constitution of India and Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006, the Reservation for members of SC/ST/OBC shall be applicable.
1.1.   15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy” layer (NC-OBC).
2. In accordance with Section 32 and other provisions of The Rights of Persons with ⾊・.Disabilities Act, 2016, the Reservation shall be applicable.
2.1.   5% of the Seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD). Persons with Benchmark Disabilities will have the same meaning as defined under the Act of 2016.
3. In accordance to Article 15(6) of Constitution of India inserted by way of The Constitution (One Hundred and Third Amendment Act, 2019), IIM Ranchi implements the reservation for Economically Weaker Sections of General Category for admissions from the academic year, 2019-20.
3.1.   The candidates have to explicitly indicate in the application form in case they wish to opt for Reservation under this category. If the candidate fails to opt for this reservation in the application, it will be considered as waiver.
3.2.   Upon selection, the candidate will be required to produce certified documents of proof of family income and other indicators of economic disadvantage, as per Govt. of India/MHRD/MSJ&E orders issued from time to time in this regard.
3.3 10% of the total seats are reserved for members of EWS Category satisfying the criteria mentioned in O.M. No. F. No. 12-4/2019-U1 issued by DoHE, Ministry of Human Resource Development read with O.M.F.No.20013/01/2018-BC-II issued by Ministry of Social Justice & empowerment, Government of India. This shall be applicable from Academic year 2019-20 and from Academic year 2020-21, the reservation shall be extended to 10% to adhere to the constitutional limits.  To ensure there is no reduction in percentage and number of seats for reserved categories, the intake has been increased by 10% in Academic year 2019-20 and will be further increased to 25% by Academic year 2020-21.
3.4 For the purposes of reservations under this category, Economically Weaker person can be defined as the one who satisfies all the conditions mentioned below:
3.4.1. who are not covered under the existing scheme of reservations for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes
3.4.2. whose family has gross annual income below Rs. 8.00 lakh. Family for this purpose will include the person who seeks benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years. The income shall include income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession etc. and it will be income for the financial year prior to the year of application
3.4.3. whose family doesn’t own or possess 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above;
3.4.4. whose family doesn’t own or possess Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above
3.4.5. whose family doesn’t own or possess Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities;
3.4.6. whose family doesn’t own or possess Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities
3.5. The above mentioned income and assets of the families would be required to be certified by an officer not below the rank of Tehsildar in the State/UTs. The officer who issues the certificate would do the same after carefully verifying all relevant documents following due process as prescribed by the respective State/UT

Candidates belonging to General/NC-OBC categories are required to pay fee of Rs. 1800 and candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/EWS categories are required to pay fee of Rs. 900 for applying to the programme.

  • PGPHRM Application Form is a key part of admission process. Complete and accurate response to the items are, therefore, extremely important. Incomplete or false information will make your candidature null and void.
  • For letter grades or grade points, instead of marks, provide equivalent marks.
  • In all matters relating to admission, the decision of the Institute will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entertained from any applicant regarding his/her non-selection.
  • Upon shortlisting for WAT and PI process, please take one printout of the filled in application form and bring it at the time of WAT and PI process.
  • Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
